THE FOUR Cs

To further understand diamonds, their significance and the value of the fine jewellery you are purchasing,

below are the '4 Cs' of the diamond language.

At Northern Diamonds, we believe in finding the highest quality diamond possible, that meets our clients needs and fits within their desired budget. During your consultation, we will inform you on how to pick the best possible diamond and will negotiate each piece to get the best possible price.

Carat Weight

The carat weight is the size of the Diamond. The chosen carat weight of a diamond comes down to personal preference.

Cut

A Diamond's cut will determine how it handles light as it reflects and refracts to the eye. The cut inducing the most fire and brilliance is the Round Brilliant Cut Diamond; it holds the highest value and sparkles the most. The Diamond's cut/shape comes down to personal preference.

Clarity

Diamonds contain external and internal imperfections, known as blemishes and inclusions. Clarity determines the degree of which these imperfections are visible. Diamond imperfections can be difficult to see with the naked eye at times however can be visible, depending on the diamond chosen.

Colour

Diamond colour is graded on a scale from D (Colourless) to Z (Tinted colour). Colourless diamonds (D-F) will reflect more natural light, hence are considered more valuable and desirable.
